I believe in the power of community and the possibilities of expanding our understanding of ourselves and who we can be in the world. I offer a space and a way to imagine, conjure, to plot and to plan a future that allows all of us the opportunity to have enough and to be enough outside of the prerogatives of oppressive systems.

Crystal Mason is a dedicated activist, artist, cultural worker, mediator, and consultant committed to fostering spaces for envisioning and realizing a more just and equitable world. With over three decades of experience, Crystal's work traverses the intersections of race, gender, class, ability, sexuality, art, and culture.

As a co-creator of the Tree Of Change alongside Jason Wyman (aka Queerly Complex), Crystal spearheads a transformative network focused on change management, community-building, and collectively crafting visions of liberation from oppressive systems. They have championed the voices and narratives of transgender, queer, Black, Indigenous, and people of color (QTBIPOC) communities with a steadfast belief, we all belong and freedom is for everybody.

Previously serving as Co-Director of Queer Rebels, an intergenerational QTBIPOC performing arts organization, Crystal has been instrumental in amplifying marginalized voices. They also co-founded and served as Artistic Director of Luna Sea Women’s Performance Project, emphasizing the importance of diverse representation and storytelling.

Having lived and worked in an intergenerational, multiracial, mixed-gender, queer, and trans-centered low-income housing project, Crystal brings a nuanced understanding of community dynamics and social justice advocacy to their work.

  • Crystal Mason led our whole staff in a facilitated discussion, “From Acronyms to Action”, as part of our diversity, equity, and inclusion work. The professional development was requested by staff who wanted some more direction after earlier social justice and equity training. Staff was looking to refine their objectives and key results, seek assistance and deeper knowledge of places where they felt blocked, and learn more about best practices in arts and cultural organizations. The feedback from staff has been overwhelmingly positive. The session was inspiring, challenging, and insightful. Crystal helped our museum recognize what we had already accomplished, as well as helped us start to identify how we can deepen our commitment to social justice and equity work.

  • Crystal and Jason are extremely talented in what they do. They quickly create a welcoming, safe community, and they skillfully guide participants through a process of discovery that reaches even the most hesitant participants. I have personally taken several of their workshops and I have found them transformational.
